We are the largest independent buying and support group. We are not aligned to any individual wholesaler. Over and above the exceptional terms agreed with our preferred suppliers we offer additional benefit via our quarterly profit share scheme, where you could earn up to £4,500 per annum – terms and conditions apply.
Q:What are the main benefits of joining Avicenna?
A: The main benefits are:
- Financial – £17.8 million paid out to members over since 2009. This is over and above supplier terms.
- Support and professional services – our range of support includes unbiased advice, patient services, regulatory pharmacy SOPs, information governance; training, networking and social events.
Q:When do I start receiving my benefits?
A:As soon as you become a member, you will be able to benefit from improved trading terms from our suppliers and spends start counting towards profit share. You will have full access to the member section of our website including SOPs, receive updates and be invited to our social and networking events, terms & conditions apply.
Q:Is there a joining fee and a membership subscription?
A:There is no joining fee.
- The annual subscription is £400 + VAT per year, £360 + VAT if you pay by direct debit.
Q:I belong to another buying group. Will this affect my Avicenna membership?
A:Although Avicenna members are free to choose who they deal with, suppliers can only recognise you as part of the group. Our benefits are linked directly to participation and compliance through Avicenna. Essentially the more you spend through us, the more you will benefit. Q:Are there any networking opportunities as part of Avicenna?
A:Yes, we hold regular regional member meetings and training sessions across the country, which are a great opportunity for networking and meeting other Avicenna members.

Q:Does Avicenna have a Confidentiality Agreement covering access to the safe haven within a member’s pharmacy by Avicenna staff?
A:Yes. All of our staff members who visit member’s pharmacies have signed a confidentiality agreement stating that they understand and agree to abide by the IG/GDPR and Data protection requirements in regards to patient data.
