WHO ARE THE DIRECTORS?

David Gration – Chairman

David has over 30 years experience at senior management, director and chairman level in healthcare companies. He was appointed Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 1986 for work in Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industries. An enthusiastic golfer, he is keen on all sports and outdoor pursuits.

Salim Jetha – Chief Executive Officer

With over 30 years experience in pharmacy Salim is Avicenna’s CEO. He was one of the founding directors of the business and has previously held the position of Chairman. Salim has many other business interests and owns a busy high street pharmacy.

He has undertaken a management course at Imperial College, London and has an intermediate level qualification in professional accountancy. Charity work is another interest and he has organised large charitable walks for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cancer Research. In his spare time Salim likes to ski with his family in the Alps.

David Coles –Non Executive Director

David joined the board on January 1st 2011 and brings with him immense knowledge, having worked for the past eight years in the pharmaceutical sector including as M.D. of Unichem.  He is also the former chairman of the BAPW - the British Association of Pharmacy Wholesalers and will use his vast knowledge of this sector to guide Avicenna as it develops the next phase of its offering.  David is also currently CEO of the Ceuta Capability Group, which offers consultancy advice to healthcare companies.

Outside office hours David likes to keep fit and ran his first half marathon this year in under two hours. He lives with his wife in Bath and enjoys going to the rugby.

Raj Haria – Sales & Business Development Director

Graduating with a BSc in Business Administration, Raj joined the family firm in Nairobi, successfully managing a pharmacy retail and wholesale business which he developed for sale in 2000. On relocation to the UK with his wife and family, Raj took up a senior post with a private company. Joining Avicenna in 2008, Raj led a successful campaign to expand our membership.
